Digital Dictionary |
Technology is moving so fast that we mere mortals have trouble keeping up with the Digital language. This glossary of terms may help:
eBook: electronic Book. It’s a PDF but “e-Book” is more descriptive. eMovie: electronic Movie. An “MPEG-4," or m4v, which will play on any computer. Not a DVD, which will play on a DVD player or a computer if it has a “DVD player” program installed. Converting an m4v into a DVD is explained on the Information page. App: Application; Apple’s way of saying Program. PDF: Portable Document Format (The best-known PDF implementation is Adobe PDF.) If you don't have a PDF reader on your computer, you can download one for FREE from the internet. Find out how to transfer a PDF (eBook) to any tablet or device on the Internet. Digital: 1s and 0s; on or off; electronic language that allows your computer to read, write and store any kind of information, visual or audio. Letter from a Bible Teacher
We would like to share with you a letter that reflects exactly what we are trying to do:
“Dear Bro. Neely,
I can’t tell you how fantastic your work and vision is. I have searched off and on for about 30 years for
such illustrations as these. In fact, when the Thomas Nelson Illustrated Bible came out, I looked at it, but
it was too impractical for use in our Sunday School. I work with new church plants that are started in
spite of not having strong financial backing. I have worked on developing materials that are free for them
to use, including Sunday School materials. Activities and lessons have been easy to prepare, but the
one thing so elusive is consistent artwork across all the lessons. Your desire to make your illustrated
Bible available the way you have for use in the Sunday School is the answer to a great need. I am
thankful to be able to purchase the CD/DVDs to use in our Sunday School and I will look forward to
encouraging other churches to do the same. I have paypal and would like to order both the Old
Testament and the New Testament. My address is...”

Using Our Products on Mobile Devices
The products put out by FREEillustratedBible.com are PDFs (for e-Books) and M4Vs (for e-Movies), fairly universal formats which you should be able to view and use on your devices, but we know getting started can be frustrating, so we've put together some information on how to do so. Please keep in mind that due to the enormous variety of devices, operating systems, and software, no guide will be comprehensive enough to cover every configuration.
Step One: Getting the File Onto the Device
There are several ways of getting your files onto your mobile device. For small files, you can email yourself the file as an attachment and open it on your device. For larger files such as those you receive from us as downloads, either (1) use the initial email or webpage download links to download them directly onto your device, or (2) connect your device by cable to the computer and manually move the files over , or (3) use an available file-sharing option or cloud service, many of which offer free plans.
Be aware that we offer "LG" (Large) files for large screens and "sm" (small) files for small screens like tablets and phones.
Option 1: Using Download Links When you purchase a download through our website you will see a confirmation page where you can immediately download your file using the blue link. Access this page on your desired device, or open the confirmation that is emailed to you on that device, and click the link. The file will download onto whatever device you are accessing it with.
Option 2: Connect by Cable Use a compatible cable to connect your device to the computer and follow the instructions of your manufacturer to access the files on your device. Copy the file on the computer and paste it somewhere you will remember.

e-Books
There are many free apps available to mobile users for viewing PDFs, and that is all you need to read your Illustrated Bible selections! To be as universal as possible, we are going to explain the process for those of you who are using Adobe Acrobat Reader, which can be downloaded here: on Google Play: Click Here on the App Store: Click Here on the Windows Store: Click Here |
e-Movies
Many devices claim compatibility with the M4V format; the stock player in Android supports it, and iPhones support M4V. If a device is not playing it, try changing the extension at the end to ".mp4" instead of ".m4v" and see if that resolves the issue. For an additional app that supports M4Vs, you might try VLC Media Player: on Google Play: Click Here on the App Store: Click Here on the Windows Store: Click Here |
Using Adobe Acrobat Reader
Once you have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed, you can typically open your PDF file in one of two ways:

NEW: We have small and large files for small and large screens!
Up until now, the quality in our e-Books was created for big screens, like projections, laptops, and desktop computers.
e-Bibles are now in a perfect size for small screens. The small size offers faster download, faster navigation, consumes less storage space and is cheaper with only slight quality loss, that you’ll never see.
For example:
The large size NT is 159.7 MB, the small size NT is 46.8 MB!
If you go to the store and find an item you are interested in, for most you will notice that there are several options to choose from regarding media type (download or hard copy), size, and price. Click the option you want and any price difference will show up at checkout.
